Wrongfully Imprisoned Men to Speak in McKinney

Recent stories in the Dallas papers have featured stories of men who have been exonerated due to DNA evidence after they have served long sentences for violent crimes which they did not commit.  The book Tested, How Twelve Wrongfully Imprisoned Men Held Onto Hope, written by Peyton and Dorothy Budd, is about 12 such men.  A number of them will be in McKinney on January 23rd to share their stories at both Sunday services (8:30 and 11:00 AM), and also at a discussion forum between 9:45 and 10:45 the same morning.  The combined time these men spent in prison for separate charges is 189 years.  Their convictions were overturned by  staff attorneys "The Innocence Project".  The Innocence Project is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 by Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.  To date, 265 people have been exonerated by DNA testing, including 17 death row inmates.
