Volunteer Opportunities: Museums, Flowers, Grant Writing

This week's Volunteer McKinney Center Opportunities:

Non-profit Development. Community Lifeline Center, a non-profit organization that helps clients manage short-term crises and return to self-sufficiency, is seeking a Development Director to oversee current funding and obtain new funding opportunities. A volunteer with experience in resource development and grant writing in social services would be ideal. If you would enjoy using your excellent organizational, writing, and oral communication skills to work with the Executive Director, look for “Development Director” on the VMC website under New Listings.

Spring is in the air and Chestnut Square Historical Village needs volunteers to implement the new landscaping layout prepared by a retired professional. Anyone with a passion for plants, a fondness for flowers, or any type of green thumb is encouraged to come help transform Chestnut Square. For additional
information, look for “Gardening Guys and Gals” on the VMC website.

Museum Curator Assistant. If you’ve ever had an interest in being a museum curator, this is an opportunity to gain experience. The position involves inventory and well as accession and de-accession of historical items at Chestnut Square. The volunteer will also help prepare a volunteer manual for handling artifacts.
Training is provided. For contact information, click on “Curator Assistant” on the VMC website.
