Old Man Winter returned on Wednesday as McKinney and the rest of North Texas suffered another round of brutal winter weather, making many of residents wish they were in Hawaii or other parts of the tropics. Although the snow and freezing rain is over, many patches of ice remain on area roads making driving hazardous. Particularly slick are underpasses which remained shaded during the daylight hours. Drivers are advised to use caution and allow extra distance between vehicles.
Record low temperatures of 12 degrees are forecast for tonight and as a result, all McKinney ISD schools will have a delayed start of two hours on Thursday, February 10, due to inclement weather. Herman Lawson Early Childhood Center morning classes will be canceled.
Sunny skies will return on Thursday, with a gradual, and most welcome, warming by the weekend.
The record low for this date was 16 degrees in 1981.
