TIME magazine reported that Democrats, Republicans and Libertarians are beginning to acquiesce around the decriminalization of marijuana laws, citing tax benefits and states rights/individual choice as primary reasons. Join the debate below...
From TIME:
Ken Cuccinelli had a surprise in store when he stepped to a podium at the University of Virginia on Feb. 6. The commonwealth's conservative attorney general stunned the auditorium crammed with liberal college kids by citing the "fascinating experiment" under way in Colorado and Washington, states where voters legalized marijuana in landmark referendums last fall. "I'm not at all unhappy that they're doing it," he said, noting that his views on drug enforcement are "evolving."
Look out for the next "McKinney Debates" poll question on Friday, Feb. 22.

I am kind of confused on the polling system above. In the other TSB articles where these kind of polls have been attached, the polls were filled with responses from Mckinney citizens and TSB readers who I frequently see posting on here. That's all good and happy. But this poll has people from all over the country, and many of the comments state they are from days ago, while this TSB article wasn't posted until an hour ago (so those posters obviously didn't come to this poll through TSB). My point being, this is hardly "Mckinney Debates" when the vast majority of comments (and votes) come from somewhere else. Not sure if this is just a weird cliche in the TOK system, but it would be great if there was a way to show only those votes/comments from those who accessed this debate via TSB...that would give a more representative "polling" of TSB's readers and Mckinney in general. Personally, I enjoy getting on TSB because I feel it is a great connection to my local community, and I'd hate to see TSB lose its hometown feel that I love. If I want national news/input/opinion, there are plenty of other sites I can frequent. Anyway, just food for thought :)
Thank you for the valuable feedback, Sara. As director of Community Engagement for TSB, this is the kind of feedback I love, especially as we pilot and test out various forms of engagement, both online and off. As you mentioned, we have the ability to post McKinney-specific poll questions using the TOK platform, and we also can pull from dozens of national issues that do have other "TOKers" participating from around the country (i.e, the one above). We will re-look at this based on your feedback as well as provide your suggestion to the folks at TOK. We never want to stray from our hometown feel. Thanks again!
Thanks Matt. Now that you have explained the forum of TOK a bit, it makes more sense. Maybe you can just clarify if the presented poll is Mckinney-based or a national poll somewhere in the article...maybe that would help??? Or maybe I was the only one that thought it was odd...lol! Wouldn't be the first time ;)
Whoops! Just noticed you changed it. Will be interesting to see how Mckinney "compares" to the national norm.
