McKinney North is sending swimmers in both an individual event and a relay team event to the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin on Feb. 22-23.
The North Swim and Dive Team competed in the Region 3-4A Prelims and Finals this past weekend in Frisco. Senior Madison Kuhn placed fourth in the 50-yard Freestyle and will represent North at state in that event. The Boys 200 Medley Relay will also advance. Senior Patrick Griffin, junior Garrett Purdy, and sophomores Mike Mattei and Zach Griffin make up that relay.
Kuhn also took 4th in the 100-yard Free Finals. Patrick Griffin placed 6th in the 200 Yard IM and 7th in the 100 Yard Free. The Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay placed 7th. Making up that relay is Kuhn, junior Tasha Blaskovich, sophomore Sarah Linnabary and freshman Kristin Pierron. The Girls 200 Yard Free Relay, Kuhn, Blaskovich, Linnabary and sophomore Lauren Burnam, placed 8th. Pierron also placed 11th in the 100-yard breast.
Diving took place on February 8th at Frisco. MNHS diver Alex Dobbie scored a personal best and placed 5th in the Region.
North coach Benda Files remarked how all swimmers bettered their times in the Finals.
