
The McKinney Boyd Bailadoras competed the weekend of Dec. 8 at the Showtime DFW Christmas Classic at Carrollton Creekview High School and walked away with the big trophy, winning overall Grand Champion large high school team. The ladies won 1st place with their team hip-hop, novelty, lyrical, and pom routines. They also won an "Applause Award" for outstanding energy in their hip-hop routine.
Bailadora officers won 1st place with their contemporary and prop routines and were placed in the Officer Champions Circle for scoring in the top three officer squads at the contest. Competing with their duets, sophomores Amanda Merkle and Jordan Benanti won 1st place and sophomores Amanda Belcher and Briana Milton came in 2nd.
Bailadora soloists also saw success in their respective age divisions with freshman Macy Hogue placing 3rd, sophomore Jacqueline Parson placing 2nd, and junior Emily Norris winning 1st place.
The McKinney Boyd Bailadoras, under the direction of Caris Dunn, is a group of Boyd’s most elite dancers. The Bailadoras perform at pep rallies, varsity football games, select basketball and soccer games. They also perform at various events throughout McKinney and produce a spring dance show.
