McKinney High Junior Chelsea Thomas has verbally committed to play softball at Missouri State University under head coach Holly Hesse. The Bears play in the Division 1 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC).

The Lionette standout was District 10-4A Newcomer of the Year as a Freshman and Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore. While pitching for McKinney High, Thomas plays third base for her select team - American Freedom Gold - Soefje.

Thomas marks the 7th player in 3 years to move on to play college softball (9th overall) and the 5th player in program history to play Division 1 softball.  She is the younger sister of former McKinney High standout Ashley Thomas, a junior shortstop playing at Georgia Tech.
