The coaches of District 10-5A unveiled the first and second team honors Thursday, while also announcing the superlative awards that included District MVP.
Boyd running back Bryan Driskell and Plano West quarterback Travis Korry were announced as co-MVPs of the district. Driskell finished the regular season with an area-high 1,763 rushing yards and 26 total touchdowns, while leading the Broncos to a 6-4 record and a second place finish in 10-5A. Korry was 104-of-165 passing for 1,754 yards with 12 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He also had 619 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns to lead the Wolves to a 6-4 record and a third place finish in 10-5A.
In the award for Newcomer of the Year on defense, Boyd’s sophomore DL/LB Ross Matiscik finished in a three-way tie with Plano East’s sophomore DE Landis Durham and Plano’s sophomore DT Sam Tecklenburg.
Allen head coach Tom Westerberg walked away with Coach of the Year honors after leading the Eagles to a 9-1 record and the 10-5A championship.
