This is mostly true! If you own an inkjet printer at home or your office and you wish to scan photographs from existing pictures or your camera download, then you need to invest in some “photo paper.”
If you choose glossy paper, the image can blur and smear even though the box of paper may say it is suitable for inkjet printers. Some things are best left to the professionals if your desire is a glossy 8X10 photograph. In these instances, have your pictures reproduced at your local drug store or mega mart that offers photo processing. It beats using up your ink and expensive paper. (I cannot believe I am writing this!)
If you want the best results from your home inkjet printer, buy name-brand matte photo paper. The ink will absorb nicely and produce an image saturated with color and contrast.
For everyday printing, the cheapo 20-pound weight commonly known as “copy paper” is the best paper for your printer. Card stock, presentation paper, and even (dare I say it?) recycled paper have tendencies to jam if you are printing many pages at a time.
Paper dust is another factor to consider. If your printer is not picking up the pages successfully or picking up more than one at a time, your little pick-up feed tires are too slick from dust. Keeping your printer vacuumed and covered while not in use with an old t-shirt or pillowcase will increase the longevity of that printer well past the warranty.
Do not use canned air on your printer! It contains too much moisture and simply blows the dust and debris deeper into the innards. We shall be happy to see you bring your printer in for a nice $25.00 cleaning as well.
I guess I have bossed you around enough for now. Let’s light up Lasers next time!
