McKinney will spray an area of the city this week to control the mosquito population after another human case of West Nile Virus was confirmed. Crews will spray Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 8 – 10 starting at approximately 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. each night.
The spray area is generally west of U.S. 75, south of Bloomdale Rd., east of Hardin Rd. and north of Virginia. For a detailed map of this spray area and every area sprayed in the city, visit www.mckinneytexas.org/mosquitocontrol.
Residents in the spray area are advised to stay indoors during the spray period and should bring their pets inside. To opt out of the scheduled spray, or to report standing water or increased mosquito activity, call the West Nile information line at 972-547-7473.
The chemical sprayed during mosquito control measures to combat the West Nile Virus is Aqualuer 20/20, a synthetic compound similar to a chemical that occurs naturally in Chrysanthemums. The MSDS for the compound and the label can be found on the website.
