Written as a retort for “Angie Bado: If I Were Mitt Romneys Campaign Manager"
We may live in a Red State, but our MSM (Mainstream Media) is dominated by Blue.
The media serves a vital service in the checks and balances of the political system in the United States. To put it bluntly, it is the job of politicians to lie and it is the job of the media to catch them and expose them to the voters. Historically, the media in this country has tried, or at least pretended, to be “objective” and “balanced."
This balance has degraded to the point that, currently, most members of the media have become de facto campaign surrogates for our President, Barack Obama.
This fact was exposed at the first presidential debate, where Mitt Romney revealed the “real” Obama. Not the Obama created by his handlers and the media.
Mainstream media personalities were stunned and dismayed at Obama’s performance describing it as “terrible," “political malpractice” and “Obama made a lot of great points tonight. Unfortunately, most of them were for Romney.”
Obama handlers needed a scapegoat and attacked Jim Lehrer, the moderators for allowing “Mitt Romney for control the debate” and the buffoonish Al Gore blamed the thin Denver air.
Note to Stephanie Cutter, Obama's deputy campaign manager, Obama had the floor for 4 more minutes than Romney. If Romney ran the show, why did he let your boss filibuster?
Obama's performance should not be shock. We have not seen the real Obama for a couple of years. The only time he has been seen in public, he is accompanied by a protective coccoon with teleprompters loaded with speeches, written and cleared by his handlers, Michele Obama and Valerie Jarrett. If he takes questions, they come from Obama friendly reporters.
No one gets to Barack without going through them.
Not even Oprah.
As a consequence, Barack has not been challenged or questioned in any form or fashion. He has sat back to enjoy the accolades from his legions of admirers to admire his Nobel Peace Prize, without the annoyance of questions from pesky reporters from FoxNews or Republicans.
The poor guy is gone soft. He needs to get down from fantasy land and back to reality.
As your campaign chairman, I would offer the following advice:
10. Your coronation, er, inauguration was a historic event for all Americans. And you set some pretty high expectations:
And we had high expectations of you:
Let’s face facts, promising us the same stuff in 2012, that you promised us in 2008 and didn’t deliver, ain’t gonna hack it.
9. You really blew it with the Fast and Furious, so own it. If you and Eric Holder never discussed it and neither of you knew anything about it, why did you invoke Executive Privilege? What are you hiding? Are you afraid that you will be exposed for setting up some nutty scheme to take away our 2nd Amendment rights? What part of "right of the people to keep and bear Arms" do you not understand?
Your administration oversaw a program that facilitated the sales of guns to Mexican drug lords. Criminals used those weapons to kill 14 young people at a birthday party in Mexico. I realize that you probably didn’t hear about this in the newspapers or the TV shows that you watch. It took Univision to expose the truth of the scandal.
You owe the Mexican and American people an explanation.
Stop hiding behind Valerie Jarrett's skirt and tell the truth!
8. Bravely address the fact that you lied about Taxes. You stated during the 2008 campaign that “no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increases. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”
Well, it took you a whole 16 days into your presidency to renege on this pledge, by raising the tax on people who smoke cigarettes. This tax puts an unnecessary financial burden on low-income smokers and it doesn’t make them any more likely to quit. Smoking is a nasty habit, but some people enjoy it and they should have the right to enjoy it, without being punished by your tax policy.
And please make up your mind:
- Obama Admits His Tax Hikes Would Hurt The Economy
- Obama vows to veto full Bush tax cut extension
- Obama to Push Bush Tax Cut Extension for Middle Class
And please don't forget that you emplemented the the biggest tax increase in history, Obamacare.
7. Go back to the drawing board on Obamacare!
Work with the Republicans in Congress to put together a plan that is good for the American people instead of a 13,000 page mess of new federal regulations cobbled together by Democrat party interest groups.
Here is Obamacare summed up in one sentence.
You have ignored our bad economy for two years, while forcing through Obamacare without one Republican voting for the plan. You had decided that you didn’t want or need their input. Just a suggestion , but responding to Republicans with “I won” is not the way to start a meaningful dialog.
Stop the offensive ads that are insulting the American people!
This ad features a Paul Ryan lookalike pushing Grandma in a wheelchair over a cliff . Really? Do you think that all Americans are stupid?
The truth is that you are the one would will cut millions from Medicare.
6. Wake Up! Islamic radicals are still trying to kill us!
Instituting political correctness, such as calling the Ft Hood attack “Workplace Violence” is insulting to our military personnel. I’ve got news for you and Janet Napolitano, Major Nidal Hassan is a terrorist, not a disgruntled worker. If you need a volunteer to shave the bastard, let me know, I will volunteer.
5. Own up to the fact that your energy policy is a joke and will result in “skyrocketing" food and fuel costs.
These policies place an unnecessary burden on seniors on fixed incomes and the working poor. People that you claim to care about.
Drop your foolish Cap and Trade scheme.
End your effort to bankrupt the coal industry. Do you think that the American people want high energy costs and rolling blackouts. Do you want us to become North Korea?
Stop subsidizing your political allies and their risky “Green” energy initiatives like Solyndra.
Get the EPA off the backs of Texas energy processors
4. Knock off your phony “War on Women” attack on Republicans and return Bill Maher’s million dollar campaign contribution. Maher is a pig, who receives Hollywood accolades and millions from HBO, because of his politics.
This is a clip of Maher talking about women. Watch at your own risk, it is extremely graphic and offensive.
3. Budget? Where is your leadership on the budget?
All of us, have to deal with a budget and during your administration, this has become much tougher.
All of us, except for you!
You and Congress have not passed a budget since April 29, 2009 and during that time you have rung up “$10.4 trillion and accumulated $4.5 trillion in debt, an amount that equals $13,000 in new debt for every individual American and $34,000 per family.”
Now, you are telling us that you have great plans and to give you another shot.
2. Be a man and suck it up. Quit blaming others, when your policies fail. In 2009, you said “If I don't have this done in three years, then there's gonna be a one-term proposition.”
Well, Barack, if you don’t learn from your failures, the American people will fulfill your prediction.
1. Tell us the truth! You promised us Hope and Change, in 2008, and you blew it.
You said that “I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth.”
Have any of those things happened?
Have you accepted any responsibility, when your policies have failed?
Have you have learned from your errors?
Please tell us that you have learned from your mistakes and can change and be the Obama that we used to know.

Bill S. - I can not express enough outrage for the morons, who decide to express their opinion by ripping off or vandalizing signs. Rest assured that these idiots reside on both sides and are equally repugnant.
Everyone should feel comfortable to express their opinions without fear of being harassed or called nasty names.
I enjoy our banter and encourage you to continue to give me crap and hold my feet to the fire. Fire away, my friend!!
Bill "Yes, that's my real name" Spizzillacoli Good to hear from you. You did forget to mention the the other terms for "Cut and Paste", are called "Facts" or "Supporting Documentation and Evidence". It is hard to argue that our president didn't talk about visiting 57 states when I supply the video. But, why use fact, when it is much more fun to use unsubstantiated statements like "he doesn't have the full backing of his party" or "doesn't understand the term middle class". But, of course, if you actually used "facts" or "evidence" to formulate an analysis for the best presidential choice, you would have come to the unmistakable conclusion that Mitt Romney is our best option for President.
FYI - I did catch the fact that you were unable to even question ANY of the facts that I presented above.
FYI - Join Facebook and Friend me at http://www.facebook.com/TheRightView. I frequently post and have a lively debate about the issues. What's your over and under for the date that I unfriend you?
I inadvertently double posted.
Hi Curtis, I unfortunately am probably one of the only people in North Texas without a Facebook account. Someday... maybe when they come out with the next social media alternative. That is also after I get rid of my bag phone in my car..:)
You are correct that I have not gone through each of your perceived factoids and broken each one out and argued. You would have countered with more information and before you knew it we would be arguing Dewey vs Truman. In 7 years of living in North Texas I have come to the conclusion that folks on your side of the fence really would not change your minds if it were Romney, Gingrich, Santorum or god forbid Dick Cheney. The Republican Party and Tea Party factions really do not care who the opponent is as long as its not President Obama. I believe the statement had been made that the goal of this Congress was to ensure President Obama is not re-elected. How do you argue that??
Over the past 7 years in this area, I've had signs removed from my yard, whispers as people skip my house on Halloween, not to mention slammed doors and insults as I block walked on behalf of Democratic candidates. I don't blame the whole GOP, just the narrow minded fringe. And yes, there are those on the extreme left who don't represent all the beliefs I do as well. This state will not be voting blue anytime soon and its difficult to argue that on a daily basis with those who refuse to even consider an alternative. What puzzles me is the effort you consistently put into these posts speaking to those who believe it anyway. Yes water is wet. Do you believe that McKinney was going to switch allegiance overnight?
I believe in my party and it has over the years supported more of the beliefs I hold personally and my views on government. In Illinois' (a blue state on election day), was a very red state in outlying areas. In fact my Congressman before I moved was Dennis Hastert. There; one was able to have dialogue without the venom and vitriol that seems to be spewed here. I have never seen such disdain for an individual or a party. Conversely, you would probably not be able to change my mind either. I just don't understand why it has to be so antagonistic for a state that will probably vote 70% Romney anyway. Things are far from perfect as I stated earlier and I'm not happy with everything that has occurred over the past 3 years, however I am in support of the continued path. I enjoy living here and despite of political differences and those that feel the need to be angry and name call sitting President's, I have learned and teach my children to look past that behavior and believe in what you feel is right.
My hope is that after President Obama is re-elected that the House and Senate can move the agenda past a stop for re-election of a sitting process and the mending of the country. This gridlock is more frustrating that comments about Jeremiah Wright or 47%'rs.
You have every right to post what you feel and I respect you and your wife's efforts in community service for this area, and while we may never agree politically, in my opinion it may be served better by posting actual solutions and proposals from Misters Romney and Ryan.
I am a Blue Chick in a Red Barn - I do not know Texas Commentator, Curtis Rath or Bill "Italian" Spitzzirri. I re-read Bill's post and did not find anything disrespectful to Mr. Rath. In fact it was rather humorous as was Mr. Rath's commentary; however, Texas Commentator thought it his "duty" to sling a few insults Bill's way including insults about President Obama for perceived insults to Mr. Rath. Civility never goes out of style! The American people will have the last word in the Presidential election. After the election, we need to close ranks by supporting the President (Obama or Romney), Republican and Democrat members of Congress, and the departments of government, then allow them to be about the people's business.
Not lonely at all TC..in fact I have taken pride in teaching my children that there are other choices other than what is perceived as the only choice down here. Just because a majority rules, doesn't mean you can't look at alternatives and be open minded to other points of view. They also understand and learned early on that water is a natural resource and one that is not promised. Just because a lake is full one year doesn't mean you have to use it up to just to keep grass green. Its evident by some of the medians that post signs that they are not using sprinkler systems. I applaud our leaders for thinking of alternatives that having every piece of greenery surrounded by PVC.
My children also understand that perceived paranoia, bullying tactics and "I'm taking my ball and going home if you don't agree with me' mentality will not get you far in life. Progressive and open thinking will take anyone farther in life than being close minded and being unwilling to look at other points of view.
So no TC...not lonely at all and frankly quite happy. I think if you were to go out and look around there are quite a few people who feel the same...and frankly have a lower water bill as well..:)
Texas Commentator, since your reply was right after my post I am going to assume you were commenting on my post.
My real name is Bill Spizzirri which is what is posted. I don't hide under a false name, such as ohhh Texas Commentator. Please do not insult my given name by referencing the name as being from a stupid circus book. One could also argue its insulting and childish to reference a current sitting or former President other than 'President' or 'Mr. President', not just by his last name or using the term 'king'.
Practice what you preach!
Welcome back Curtis, I lost my over/under bet on when we Dems would see your first 'Curtis Cut and Paste 2012 Collection' and I bet the 15th of October! Darn you let me down again! It is still wonderful to see that the GOP has remained consistent in its inability to find a viable candidate ...along with a viable alternative plan. One could argue that if things were still so bad why wouldn't Mr. Romney have a double digit lead. Puzzling. While its inevitable that he will carry this state and probably not even visit, one has to wonder why he doesn't have the full backing of his party. While things are far from perfect, I do not see this man proposing anything that would be any better. Its easy to scream 'this sucks', but much harder to offer a constructive option. Being a successful business man is not the only quality to running a government. I do not see this man even understanding the term middle class.
Interesting and entertaining critique, but also a pretty savage piece. Fact Checkers would have a field day with some of the exaggerations. What I find unnecessary, Mr. Rath, is that Texas is a "red state" and all 48 electoral votes will go to Gov Romney in the presidential election. You are preaching to the choir; however, if we really want to fundamentally change the U.S., we need to carefully select those men and women who represent us in Congress who are progressive, non-partisian and who pass legislation that will benefit all Americans, not just those who are "Job Creators." Trickle down economics and business practices that allow "corporate welfare" for the ultra rich are not working.
I confess, I didn't like Obama when he first came on the scene. I didn't know enough about him I could like. What I did learn about Obama, worried me. Being a 60's kid, I was aware of "The Weather Underground" and their bombings. And Bill Ayres, of The Weather Underground, was a known associate of Obama, so the red flag was up for me. Who a person associates with, says a lot about that person to me. Then, there was also that whole Reverend Wright thing!
But there have been two statements Obama has made, that causes me great concern, even over the associates of Obama.
Obama said he wants to "fundamentally change America". Obama has also said that sometimes, the constitution gets in the way of him doing some of the things he'd like to do.
Those comments, and ideas, scare be crap out of me. If anything, it is the "fundamentals" we need to get back to!
As for the constitution getting in the way? Thank God! That is EXACTLY what he was designed to do! Please voters, let that truly sink in.
The mentality behind those two statements alone, should cause any candidate to be eliminated. And those two things, all by themselves, reveal the REAL Obama. And I want no part of that.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Curtis!
Love you Angie - sorry, I got a little carried away responding to your original post. Love the Passion!
