The McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCVB) Board of Directors announced today that they are halting the search for a new executive director without naming a new director at this time, a decision reached during their annual Board retreat held earlier this month.
“During the recent MCVB Board strategic planning retreat, we discussed the direction of the MCVB and reviewed the quality of work being produced by the current staff in promoting McKinney. The Board reached the decision to halt pursuing the search for an executive director at this time,” said Board Chair Angie Bado.
According to Bado, the MCVB will move forward with the three-member staff currently in place – Dee-dee Guerra, Interim Executive Director and Tourism Sales Manager; Beth Shumate, Communications/Marketing Manager; and Vanesa Baggett, Sales Rep/Administrative Assistant. She also stated that the Board has notified all applicants of the decision to not fill the position at this time.
“Over the summer, this staff took on additional responsibilities, based on their strengths, following the departure of our previous executive director, Diann Bayes. We are very pleased with the job they are doing in handling their respective duties,” Bado said. “We feel confident they are well-suited to carry the organization forward based on the Board’s new strategic initiatives.”
The MCVB Board foresees reinitiating the executive director search within the coming year.
