McKinney Boyd's varsity football team dropped to 0-2 on the season after losing to Coppell 31-6 on the road Friday night. After being down just 7-0 after 24 minutes of play, the Cowboys outscored the Broncos 24-6 the rest of the way.
The lone scoring play for Boyd came by way of a 50-yard run by running back Bryan Driskell. He finished the game with 95 yards on nine carries. Quarterback Curtis Ladd was just 6-of-15 passing for 84 yards with one interception. Patrick Ladd led the team in receiving with three catches for 61 yards.
The Broncos, which had opened their season with a 38-20 loss to Mesquite Horne last week, had just 190 total yards in the ballgame Friday night, compared to 411 for the Cowboys. Coppell (2-0), which had opened its season with a 41-8 win over Longview, finished with 21 first downs on offense, while Boyd could only gain eight.
Boyd will stay on the road and travel to former district rival Garland (0-2) next Friday night. Garland lost to Mesquite Horn 42-0 on Friday night. Next week's game will be played at Garland's Williams Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
