The McKinney Boyd High School Band students are an exceptional group of musicians both in and out of uniform. These talented young people can be found giving tremendous effort in the classroom, on the marching field and within the community of McKinney.
In August, band members participated in a Samaratin Inn charity drive. Each member of the band was asked to donate either high efficiency laundry detergent or all-purpose cleaner for the Samaratin Inn.
“The response was amazing! Nearly 250 items were collected. It was hard to put that many donations into one car!” said Eric Brinkman, MBHS Band President.
“We want to give back to the community because so many people in McKinney give to the MBHS Band program,” commented Brena Lackey, Band Vice-President.
Although marching season is in full swing, this recent charity drive for the Samaratin Inn does not conclude the band’s efforts in reaching out to the community. The MBHS Band plans on continuing its efforts in
charitable giving by holding monthly drives throughout the school year.
