Volunteer McKinney Center offers several opportunities to get involved this week.
• Information Booth at the Farmers Market. If you enjoy meeting people, manning the information booth at McKinney Farmers Market could be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for. Duties include selling old-fashioned beverages and sharing information about Chestnut Square. If you can help Saturday morning or Thursday afternoon, look for “Information Booth Volunteer” on the Volunteer McKinney web site.
• Benefit Ride. On August 25, 2012, riders in a motorcycle rally to benefit Children and Community Health Center will depart from Fiat of McKinney and arrive at the YMCA Adventure Camp in Anna. The ride will be followed by lunch with special guest, Herschel Walker. Volunteers may choose to help with departure and/or in Anna. For more information, look for “August 25” under Find an Opportunity by Date on the Volunteer McKinney web site.
• Horseback Therapy. WALK ON provides therapeutic horseback riding, listening therapy and social skills engagement to children on the Autism Spectrum. Volunteers are needed for Saturday mornings to groom, tack, side-walk, and lead horses during therapy riding sessions. Other opportunities to support the program include general landscaping and maintenance of the facility as well as working with the kids and horses. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. For additional information, use Keywords, “Walk On” on the Volunteer McKinney website.
