It's no surprise that McKinney Boyd is receiving attention from the DFW media as the 2012 volleyball season prepares to get under way on Monday.
The Dallas Morning News lists coach Kelly Quinn's Lady Broncos as one of its 10 teams to watch this season. Boyd was a Class 5A state finalist last season. The Morning News also lists Boyd senior Megan Mollett as one of its 10 players to watch. Mollett, who averaged 4.26 kills per game last year, has committed to sign with the University of Arkansas.
UIL rules allow regular season competition to begin Monday, August 13. Getting things going for McKinney schools is McKinney North, which travels to Mansfield Lake Ridge on Monday.
On Tuesday, Boyd opens regular season competition Tuesday at Lake Highlands, while McKinney High travels to Wylie High School. Waxahachie will also be present at the dual match. And finally, North plays again, hosting Trinity Christian and Wichita Falls at the North gym.
Later this week, North and MHS will participate in the Denton Ryan Tournament, to be held Thursday through Saturday. Boyd will travel to Duncanville on Friday.
