Stuart J’s Lens: Michael Beran Chases His Passion – `I Like to Catch Animals'

By Stuart J. Pearlman, TSB Staff

Back in the mid-1980’s Timothy Hutton and Sean Penn starred in a movie entitled The Falcon & the Snowman and introduced the general public to a variety of interesting and sometimes dangerous hobbies. Perhaps the most fascinating was Hutton’s portrayal as a Falconer.

The only place I have ever seen a real-life Falconer is at the Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival in Waxahachie. But I had never met one, until now.

I have met Michael Beran.

Michael is a Falconer. He is also one of the owners of A All Animal Control and is living his dream. After stints as a nuclear weapons technician, cell phone salesman when they still weighed close to three pounds, and VP of a construction company, Michael started doing what he did best – chasing animals.

Not unlike most areas in North Texas, Collin County has its fair share of snakes, armadillos, rats and even beavers. Michael’s expertise is rooted in his Louisiana upbringing and he is keeping very busy helping out our friends and neighbors in and around McKinney. He claims that in most cases his services are required only once because he is that good at getting rid of the problem!

If varmints are lurking around your house and you need to contact Michael or his partners Mark and Susan Griffin, here are the details:

Bats, and snakes and armadillos - oh my! An alternative to road kill!

Stuart, GREAT “Stuart J’s Lens” below… Thanks for doing "A All Animal Control"… When I met Michael at the Links Chamber meeting I had an interesting conversation with him. I think what he does is VERY COOL!!! But I’ll let all that “animal snatching” up to him and his crew. I don’t have an arsenal of guns for criminals… I have them for snakes and other critters… LOL… It’s probably easier to call Michael than to shoot holes in my attic or the front yard.

I stopped up at Tony’s Italian Beef last week (another one of your great Stuart J Lens videos) to get one of his world famous hot dogs in the middle of the week and the middle of the day and he was closed. I was bummed out!!! Hopefully his business is OK and he just stepped out for a while.

Keep the video’s coming. I really enjoy reading the Town Square Buzz eNewsletter but your videos is clearly on the top of my favorite list…

Thanks Dennis for the comments and the introduction to Michael. I agree his interview was one of the good ones!!

As far as Tony, I can assure you he is still in business as he fed me as recently as last week! I am sure the time you stopped by he was just making a deposit at the bank!!

Wow... I think that's the first time I have ever used the word "as" five times in one sentence. Too bad the Olympics are over, I might have won something!
