From the popular controversies of the hidden letters and numbers in Da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' to Salvador Dali's hidden clues into his psyche to the robust hidden symbolism found in Jan van Eyck's 'The Marriage of Giovanni Arnolfini', incorporating symbols, hidden meanings and hidden images in art boasts an extensive and worthy tradition. In February, Laura Moore Fine Art Studios posed the topic of "Hideout" for their annual open call to artists. The resultant exhibition includes over 80 works of art from 45 artists. The exhibition features many intriguing examples of the "Hideout" theme including animal and human forms found in nature, both cleverly disguised and concealed text, beguiling forms in abstract compositions, and a watercolor painting of the old Weatherford train station that says the artist includes "10 hidden pictures".
Patrons are asked to vote for the People's Choice Best of Show award on opening night by bringing a bottle of Tide or making a $5 donation to the Oktoberfest Walk a Mile labyrinth to benefit The Samaritan Inn.
Meet the "Hideout" artists on opening night on Saturday, August 11th 7-10pm.
