McKinney Native to Compete for Olympic Gold

By Matthew Bado, TSB Staff

McKinney native Mary Killman is ready to go for the gold this weekend! The 21 year-old will compete in the synchronized swimming duet competition beginning on Sunday, August 5 at 9 a.m. local time.

Killman and her 22 year-old swimming partner, Mariya Koroleva, are the only synchronized swimmers representing the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games. The qualifying rounds conclude on Monday with the final scheduled for Monday.

Killman relocated to Santa Clara, Calif. when she was 14 to focus on her training. Coincidentally, that was the same age gymnastics All Around Champion Gabby Douglas was when she moved to West Des Moines, Iowa to train with one of the best gymnastics coaches in the nation.

Visit NBC's synchronized swimming page for more details and to confirm broadcast times.

McKinney is rooting for you Mary!
