Father's Day is almost upon us, but there is still time to pick up something special for dad. For some ideas beyond the tie, golf balls, or a golf shirt, here are some great finds to shower dad with this year.
For those dads who have a stressful job (and who doesn't these days?) pamper him with a chance to relax and unwind. Give a gift certificate for a haircut, manicure and/or pedicure. Is there anything better than a foot massage? Of course a deep tissue full body massage may also be appreciated and there are plenty of local day spas in McKinney that cater to men as well as women.

Pick up a stack of luscious smelling handmade soap - the Cedarwood line features a rich, woodsey aroma - from Lotus Soaps, made here in McKinney. The soaps contain a combination of oils to produce a gentle clean, a silky feel and a rich lather. Each 4 ounce bar is $4.50, or buy 3 for $12.
Baseball fan? Give dad a Rangers' program or yearbook with a pair of tickets inside to a game at the Ballpark at Arlington. Single game tickets are anywhere from $8 to $100.
Magicframe.com. As the headline on their website states, "Make sure dad never misses a moment!" Just send photos from your smart phone, camera, Facebook, etc. and they are automatically uploaded to the frame the CEIVA Photo Receiver. Amazing!
If dad is a fan of the great outdoors and exercise? Trek down to McKinney's bicycle shop, Cadence Cyclery, and get him some gear for his bike trips, or, better yet, give him a gift certificate toward a brand, spanking new bicycle.
The steel grill roaster (pictured above) is perfect for dads who enjoy cooking over the grill. The tiny perforations in the grill expose your foods to the fire, adding rich, smoky character, while preventing small pieces of food from falling into the flame. Available at Williams Sonoma for $39.96.
Also for Bar-B-Q buffs, the Weber grill light can make grilling after dark a breeze. $24.99 at Target.
For the wine enthusiast, stop by the McKinney Wine Merchant in downtown McKinney and have the owner and wine expert, Andy Doyle, assist with a special purchase. One of this month's specials is a Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley, 2007 for $66.99, but he has a nice selection of wines at the $12 range as well.
