Question: Is it possible to turn on the television at any point in the day and NOT see some talented McKinney folk gracing the screen?
I think not.
For weeks we've watched our girl Hollie on American Idol, and last night we said hello to our favorite insurance guy Sean who is looking for love on The Bachelorette. And, if you happened to be
channel surfing working Tuesday morning, you probably caught a few more of McKinney's favorite performers doing what they do best.
While Michael Williams brought ABC Channel 8 Good Morning Texas' host to tears with a moving selection from Phantom, Country Rocker Jon Christopher Davis was rocking out his song, "Relay For Life" on CBSDFW Channel 11. Meanwhile, over at CW33, Laura Bartlett, of Four Funny Females fame, is hard at work shooting The Breakroom that airs tonight on Channel 9 at 9 p.m.
Williams, of McKinney Boyd High School was recently honored as Best Actor for his portrayal of Phantom in Phantom Of The Opera by the Dallas Summer Musical's High School Musical Theater Awards. He will now advance to the National High School Musical Theater Award competition slated to be held on June 25 in New York City. To watch his GMT segment, click here.
Meanwhile over at CBSDFW, Davis gives the morning crowd a sample of what they will hear when they attend the Taste of Addison festival this weekend. Taste of Addison draws over 70,000 foodie/music lovers annually. Davis, a featured performer on television's docu-drama Troubadour, TX, is slated to take the Troubadour, TX stage at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Finally, click here to check out McKinney comedienne Laura Bartlett co-starring in The Breakroom with Jason James. As Laura puts it, The Breakroom brings "weird, socially uncomfortable" bits to viewers. Laura plays a sarcastic, passionately liberal co-worker to ultra-conservative James.
