The Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County announced today that E. Michael (Mike) Simpson has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. Simpson will be responsible for the strategic planning and operation of the Club in support of its mission and goals. His leadership position will include providing direction and support to the Board of Directors in the development of their goals. The new CEO will also work to attain the necessary resources to expand the Club’s services, programs and activities.
“I look forward to this outstanding opportunity to work with an excellent staff and a dedicated and passionate Board of Directors, whose goal is to work with our young people to help them realize their full potential while becoming caring and responsible citizens,” states Simpson. “The Boys & Girls Clubs serve over 8,000 children in Collin County and the needs are increasing as our region continues to be one of the fastest growing in the country. I believe my relationships and experience in the corporate world, as an elected official and a volunteer for numerous non-profits will help us achieve our goals to help these young people. We have many excellent individual and corporate supporters to thank and with whom we can build the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County. ”
Von Best, President of the Board of Directors, expressed the feelings of the Board. “We are very excited to have Mike Simpson representing The Boys and Girls Clubs of Collin County as our new CEO. Mike’s track record of success, experience and involvement in the Collin County region over the past several years will provide tremendous opportunity for the organization and insure we remain a model for clubs around the country.”
Mike Simpson and his wife Sandy moved to this area in 1997 and both have been actively involved in the community ever since. Mike was on the Frisco City Council from 2000-2008 and served as Mayor from 2002-2006, leaving office due to term limits of six years at that time. He is active in Heritage Association of Frisco, Frisco Association for the Arts, Frisco Rotary Club and Plano Symphony Orchestra Advisory Committee. He served on the Board of the Samaritan Inn and is currently on the Board of Directors for Centennial Medical Center and the Museum of the American Railroad. He has been the Frisco Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year” and Frisco Style Magazine’s “Person of the Year” in addition to being honored with the Tom Landry Leadership Award in 2009 by Dallas Baptist University. His most recent position was the Executive Director for the Arts Center of North Texas, where he served for over three years. He and Sandy will be married 50 years on August 11 and have three children and five grandchildren.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County (BGCCC) has been meeting the needs of children in Collin County since 1968. The BGCCC’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The organization currently serves over 8,000 children each year in its after school and summer programs. BGCCC serves over 70 schools in Collin County. We currently have branches in Plano, McKinney, and Frisco as well as an onsite center at Shepton High School in Plano and an extension site at Parkway Hills Baptist Church.
