McKinney, Allen PTA's Join Forces to Vet Candidates: Rescheduled for April 30

McKinney and Allen Council of PTA's rescheduled the candidate forum focusing on education for this upcoming Monday, April 30, 2012, at 6:30 at the Collin College Higher Education Center. The forum will include candidates for State Senate, House Districts 67 & 70 and State Board of Education District 12.

The meeting is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. The forum will include short speeches by the candidates followed by questions from the audience. With deep cuts in education being felt at the local level, interest among parents in legislative races is high according to forum moderator and former State of Texas PTA President Sharon Goldblatt.

The State Board of Education race has also come to the attention of local parents when Tea Party favorite Gayle Spurlock commented that special needs students should be "educated separately." This drew the ire of many parents of special needs students.

The hosts recommend getting to Collin College early to secure a seat because interest and turnout is expected to be high. Contact Kevin Cameron at kevinlcameron@gmail.com for more information.
