Diann Bayes, Executive Director of the McKinney Convention and Visitor's Bureau, has announced that she is leaving in May to take the position of Senior Vice President of Member Services for the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA) in Austin.
In this leadership position, Bayes will be responsible for managing TTIA's member services and relations program, including: member recruitment, development and retention; strategic business partnerships including sponsorships, and oversight of the events & meetings functions.
Bayes has been in the role of MCVB Executive Director for five years. During her tenure, Bayes has helped guide the MCVB from "a website and brochures" that was part of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce to an independent organization that actively promotes local economic development through tourism.
"When I arrived in McKinney, we had a website and brochures. We now promote not only with those items, but also through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest and Four Square and also through our blog, newsletter, calendar of events, weekend update, meeting planners guide and smart-phone app.
Within the last several years, the MCVB has produced marketing materials and promotional projects recognized by their peers in the industry, including awards in Advertising, Tourism Promotion, Convention Promotion, Cooperative Marketing and Website Bayes said.
"In reviewing the past five years, I am so very proud of the accomplishments of the McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau. I’ve been fortunate to have what I believe to be one of the hardest working staffs in the city," Bayes said.
A leader in her field, Bayes has served as Chair of the Dallas Fort Worth Area Tourism Council and on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau.
"Fortunately, I am remaining in the travel and tourism industry in my new position at the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA). I will continue to support tourism efforts and also share the message of TTIA that Life’s Better in a State of Travel," Bayes further commented.
Angie Bado, Chair of the MCVB Board of Directors said, "Diann's leadership, knowledge and her passion for the job will be missed. She has been a tireless cheerleader for our community and has worked very hard to enhance the economic development of McKinney through tourism. It has been my absolute pleasure to work with her and I wish her much success in her new position."
Bayes' last day at the helm of the McKinney CVB will be May 18. She previously held the positions of Executive Director of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce & CVB and Tourism Sales Manager at the Manhattan, Kansas Convention & Visitors Bureau.
