Derrick Horvath, JT Hawkins and Chuck Schober of the McKinney High boys soccer team signed Wednesday to play collegiately next season.
They were part of three district championships during their time at MHS, including back-to-back undefeated seasons, prior to signing their letters of intent.
Horvath signed with Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Horvath was a four-year letterman at MHS with 25 career goals and 18 assists, including being named on the all-district 1st team two times. Horvath was also in the top 10% academically at McKinney High School.
Hawkins signed his letter of intent to play soccer at the University of Texas at Dallas next fall. With 36 career goals and 16 assists, Hawkins leaves the Lions with a resume that includes two all-district 1st team honors and being named on the TASCO Academic All State team.
Schober will continue his soccer career at Dallas Baptist University next fall. Schober set the record at MHS with a .39 goals against average, the lowest varsity average for a starting goalkeeper in program history. Schober had 12 shutouts in his first varsity season, including scoring one goal. Schober leaves MHS with one District Goalkeeper of the Year in 2012 and finished in the top 10% academically.
