City Plans Community Event to Keep McKinney Beautiful

The City of McKinney’s Office of Environmental Stewardship is hosting the 4th annual Texas Trash-off event on Saturday, April 14.

The Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off is the single largest one-day clean up event in the state. Texas Trash-Off offers a unique opportunity for residents to clean up McKinney by volunteering to pick up litter along roadways and creeks within the city. Civic groups, schools, businesses, homeowner associations, faith-based organizations and individuals are encouraged to take part in this community event. Students will receive community service hours for green cord credit.

Volunteer teams can pre-register for the event until April 13 to guarantee t-shirts for all team members. On-site registration will be available on the day of the event on April 14 from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at check-in locations, located at the community room at Fire Station #5, 6600 Virginia Pkwy., or at Old Settler’s Park, 1201 E. Louisiana.

Team members will pick up trash at assigned locations across McKinney from 9 to 11a.m. After the clean-up, participating teams will be treated to a recognition lunch with music and prizes at Old Settler’s Park.
