Baseball Scoreboard: Boyd Rebounds, North Stays Hot, and MHS Struggles

By Mike Bruu, TSB Sports Writer

After suffering its first District 10-5A loss on Tuesday night to the hands of Garland Naaman Forest, McKinney Boyd bounced back in convincing style by defeating North Garland 14-5 on Friday. The Broncos improved to 3-1 in district play, keeping pace with the five-team logjam that is atop the standings that are all tied or within one game of the lead.

Two days after defeating MHS for the first time since 2008, McKinney North outlasted the Scots 4-2 in Highland Park. Aaron Rhodes had a tremendous game on the hill and at the plate, pitching the Bulldogs to their third District 10-4A win while also hitting one of the two North home runs on the evening. Heath Beasley hit the other home run for the Bulldogs, while Will Shumate tacked in a double of his own.

McKinney High’s struggles continued with its fifth straight district defeat, losing at home 6-3 to Richardson Pearce. Joe Baker had the only Lions double of the ballgame, while Brad Vassar was the losing pitcher for MHS.
