McKinney North highlighted local baseball action Saturday by defeating Carrollton Ranchview 12-4, completing a 4-0 march through the Diamond Classic over the past three days.
The tournament championship went to the Dawgs, thanks in part to winning pitcher Parker Middleton on Saturday and a double by Justin Stevenson. Also this week at the tournament, held in Carrollton, North beat Haltom 8-0, Trinity Christian-Addison 9-3, and Carrollton Creekview 9-4. Tournament play ran Thursday through Saturday.
This week North travels to Wylie East on Wednesday at 7:30 before playing hosting the Bulldog Classic Thursday, Friady and Saturday at MNHS.
McKinney High lost to Sherman, 5-2, on Saturday, rounding out a 1-2 performance in the Sherman tournament over the past three days. Joe Baker homered for the Lions in the loss. The up-and-down season of MHS was never more apparent than in the past week. The Lions beat larger rival McKinney Boyd 5-3 to finish the MISD tournament last weekend and carried that momentum into a 23-0 victory over Richardson on Thursday in the opener at the Richardson Tournament. But on Friday MHS lost 4-3 to HSAA prior to Saturday's loss to host Sherman.
This week MHS hosts Wylie on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Al Alford Stadium before taking part in the Denison Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
McKinney Boyd dominated Denison 15-0 and host Wylie 13-3 at the Donnie Worthington Classic in Wylie on Saturday. The Broncos were apparently angry at their 5-3 loss to Frisco Centennial on Friday night. Saturday, the Broncos' Will Hollis homered and Daniel Cortines doubled against Denison as Wesley Beeland got the win on the mound; against Wylie, Russell Williams got the win on the mound while Russell Williams, Tommy Nawa and Evan Williams doubled.
This week, Boyd begins District 10-5A play Monday at Garland Lakeview Centennial at 7 p.m., before playing in the Royse City and Rockwall tournaments from Thursday through Saturday.
