Quick Entertainment tip folks: This weekend, tonight in particular, is a wonderful time to enjoy world class live theater right here in McKinney, Texas. The McKinney Repertory Theatre’s World Premier play, Crossroads, opens tonight, March 2nd, at the McKinney Performing Arts Center. Chosen from over 100 entries received from around the globe, Crossroads, written by Michael Moon of Chicago, is the winner of MRT’s first annual New Play Competition.
Directed by David Gutierrez and starring Greg Potts, and Michelle Hirst, Moon’s play tells the delightful story of two people who meet at a country store at a crossroads in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. The story follows Ray and Barbara as they discover how much two seemingly different people have in common, as they explore what it means to be true to oneself and how a piece of home travels with you wherever you go.
Recently, I had the opportunity to take a behind the scenes look at Crossroads. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, run do not walk to do so. Potts and Hirst play well together, and do a fabulous job of bringing Moon’s characters, Ray and Barbara to life. Audience members will also be thrilled to meet the character’s Delmar and Lorraine played beautifully by Kat Potts and Chris Biggs.
Following the opening night performance, patrons will be treated to a Q&A session with the Moons. Crossroads runs March 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8:00 p.m. and March 11th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 214-544-4630 or by clicking here.
