This Friday from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., Minshew Elementary will hold a Read Across America event. Many notable community members are scheduled to read to the students -- board members, city council, MISD central office staff, parents, etc.
Mayor Brian Loughmiller is scheduled to read from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and Dr. Kennedy is scheduled to read to children from 8:30-8:50.
According to the National Education Association (NEA)'s website, "NEA's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. NEA's Read Across America also provides NEA members, parents, caregivers, and children the resources and activities they need to keep reading on the calendar 365 days a year."
