I wanted to get the story out regarding a burglary that took place at my home on Berkshire Rd in Stonebridge on the evening of Wednesday, December 21 at approximately 11:30 pm. I had just returned from bowling with my family. It was late and we were all tired. In our rush to get out of the van and into the house we forgot to close the garage. A short while later I went out to pull my car into the garage. Upon exciting the house and entering the garage I discovered someone in my garage. It was dark and they were dressed in black. I chased the robber who entered a waiting get away car.
Unfortunately for me they had their lights off so I was unable to get a license plate. I do know it was a light colored (cream/white/tan), most likely American made, late model, 4 door with tinted windows. Unfortunately they got my Nikon D5000 camera with Nikkor 18-55 VR Lens, which I left in the van. I wanted to put this story out there in hopes that maybe someone saw something or had a similar experience (crime occurred that involved a vehicle that matches this description).
Also I wanted this to serve as a reminder of the importance of keeping your homes and cars locked - and valuables secured. Theft is on the rise in our area - and they are becoming more brazen in carrying out these crimes. Fortunately for me and my family - he did not pull a gun on me or enter our home.
We can not prevent crime but we can definitely make it more difficult to accomplish their goal. If you see something suspicious, report it. You never know when that information may help solve a crime or stop one from being committed. I have reported this crime to the McKinney Police and submitted all serial numbers.

Amir - I totally agree. I love our city and still feel safe. Just want to draw attention to crimes in the area along with details. The more details we share the greater the likelihood of catching the criminals. Stay vigilant, stay safe! Happy New Year!
Nice ending! I did feel as though it is important to note that although there may be some crimes here and there in McKinney we are still one of the safest cities in America and ranked higher than many of our neighbors including Frisco (Or better known as city of cements) where due to so many shopping centers and chain stores have much higher crime rates. But I agree that we as the citizen can do much to keep McKinney as safe as possible. This was a great example of that!
Here is to keeping national chains and shopping malls in Allen and Frisco and away from McKinney.
Let's get them and .....
Update: we captured video and still shots from my neighbors security cameras and turned them into the police.
