On Saturday, December 10th, the year-end meeting of the Collin County Gay and Lesbian Alliance (CCGLA) was held at the home of CCGLA President Bob Shimmin and his partner Robb Blanchette.
The catered holiday event drew more than 100 members and supporters including Plano City Councilman, Pat Gallagher; Democratic Party of Collin County Chairperson, Shawn Stevens; Texas Democratic Women of Collin County President Barb Walters and Board member Alicia Schulze; CURE President, Roseann Rossetti and past CCGLA Board members and founders, Dawnetta Miller and Blue Martinez.
Donations were collected to benefit CCGLA partner organization, Health Services of North Texas, helping those in the North Texas community that go without the basic necessities that many of us take for granted.
“It has been a year of firsts for CCGLA, including our first Candidate Meet & Greet in McKinney added to our already successful events in Plano and Frisco,” stated Vice President, Jeanne S Rubin. “We have lots of new members and renewed interest in board service. It promises to be a fabulous year for our community in 2012!”
The CCGLA advocates equality, dignity and respect throughout North Texas through education, political awareness and social interaction.
