McKinney Christian Academy Junior High Football fans faced the elements to watch the team try and win their first League Championship against Parish Episcopal on Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m.
Although the results were not favorable for MCA and they lost 44 to 12, the boys played their hearts out in rainy and cold conditions.
“It was a hard game because of the conditions and Parish outplayed us. But I told the boys that their fulfillment is more than football,” said Coach Lichty, MCA Head Junior High Football Coach. “Our faith helps us navigate through moments like this and we should give thanks in all things.”
MCA players had high hopes of winning this game against Parish, who has a sizeable enrollment advantage over MCA.
Sam Boese, a defensive and tight end, said, “I’m super excited about playing Parish. We are going to beat them tonight. The last time we played them the score was 28 to 12. Tonight it will be the other way around.”
MCA Junior HIgh has one additional game that matches the Varsity schedule. They play on Friday night, November 4th at 5 p.m. against Dallas Lakehill.
“We will end the season on a collectively good note. Everyone will play in our last game,” said Lichty.
Before the last game, the MCA Junior High Football team has a 4 and 4 record. Over the past two years, the record has been 18 and 1. Last year the team was 10 and 0.
Before coming to MCA, Lichty coached at Prestonwood Christian Academy.
