Margaret Marie Manley Nesbitt (Oct. 11, 1928 - Aug. 30, 2011)

Margaret Marie Manley Nesbitt died at her home in McKinney, Texas, on August 30, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney where she was a member for 50 years.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 31 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am, Friday at Nesbitt Cemetery, Marshall, Texas.

Margaret was the oldest of eight children born to Prudie McCaffity Manley and Harold Manley on October 11, 1928, in Van Zandt County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stroud Nesbitt, and by her son, Gabe Nesbitt.

Margaret and Stroud have lived in McKinney since 1958. Margaret fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a nurse when she graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Dallas, in 1949. She practiced as a surgical nurse, a hospital floor supervisor, and a doctor's office nurse before finally becoming a school nurse for the McKinney ISD, serving in that position for 24 years. She loved visiting with former MISD students who would remember her as their nurse whenever she saw them around town after her retirement.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Rose Anne Mott and husband, Kenneth of McKinney; her son, Earl Nesbitt and wife, Kim of Coppell; her daughter-in-law, Janet Nesbitt James of Anna; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
