MISD volleyball action from Tuesday night, August 30:
McKinney North traveled to North Mesquite to play Tuesday in sub-varsity matches and varsity. The Bulldogs came home with 4-0 sweep with wins at all levels. The Lady Buldogs varsity won 3-1, taking the match 25-21, 25-21, 14-25, 25-19. North's JV won 2-0; 9A Orange won 2-0 and 9B Navy won 2-0.
McKinney High lost 3-1 to Lake Dallas on Tuesday. The match was held at MHS. Lake Dallas won 25-17, 25-13, 23-25, 25-13. Erin Hoppe led the night in kills with 13. Kim Blaquiere added 17 assists, while Karmen Jackson and Maddy Mead had 13 and 12 digs respectively. The Lionettes return to action Friday night in their first home game of the season against Frisco Heritage.
In sub varsity action, the McKinney JV and Freshmen A team won 2-0 against Lake Dallas. The Freshmen B team fell 0-2. JV and 9th A will both return to the court Friday night, and all three sub varsity teams will participate in the Frisco Tournament this weekend.
McKinney Boyd's offense kicked into high gear as they defeated Lake Highlands in a three-set sweep on Tuesday night (25-13, 25-15, 25-23).
Junior Megan Mollett landed 15 kills on a .542 hitting percentage to give the Lady Broncs (23-5) its third win on their home court this year. The Lady Broncs as a team hit .372.
Senior Drew Darling also had a standout night adding to the offense with nine kills and led the team with nine defensive digs and two service aces.
Senior Maddie Burleson and juniors Mackenize Wells, Krista Bukovec and Emma Meyer all added to the offense combining for 17 kills.
Leading the offense, senior Brittany Phelan and juniors Brantlee Reid and Jade Marano shared setting responsibilities tallying 40 assists on the night.
Defensively, Kaley Seaber, Haley Dickschat and Hayley Onofrey played scrappy defense in the back court. Contributing offensively Ally Cobb, Kelly Koop and Caitlyn Mills added a few kills from the right side.
The Lady Broncs will face the Allen Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night at Allen High School.
