Host Frisco Tops Lions as Football Season Begins

The Frisco Raccoons beat McKinney High 39-26 in the season-opening football game for both teams Friday night at Frisco ISD Memorial Stadium.

Though the Lions scored first on a 3-yard TD pass from Robert Somborn to Jonathon Shannon, it would be their lone lead of the night. Frisco rallied to take a 17-6 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Still, the Lions kept it close. They opened the third quarter scoring as Somborn again hooked up with Shannon on a TD pass, this time for 14 yards. Somborn hit Quentin Casner on a two-point conversion and MHS cut Frisco's lead to 17-14.

But the Raccoons scored two more touchdowns before the quarter was over to take a 31-14 lead going into the fourth quarter.

In that final period, MHS' Somborn threw a 51-yard TD pass to Casner and then Somborn scored on a 5-yard run.

Somborn led MHS with 273 passing yards. The team's leading rusher was Marquez Husband with 159 yards.
