Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Town Square Buzz?
A: TownSquareBuzz.com (TSB) is part news site, part social experience. At the core, we’re an online community website whose mission is to empower information sharing and promote discussion around news, sports, events, and issues in and around McKinney and Collin County. We here at TSB seek to provide you with a platform to easily discover, create and engage with the community at large. The TSB goal is to build lasting relationships with the community by maintaining the highest standard of integrity in all of our endeavors.
Q: Who is TSB for?
A: This site is for you, residents of McKinney and Collin County to discover, create and engage. Post what is important to you. Share photos of your child’s last game or concert, start a book club or foodie column, connect with others with similar interests.
Q: Is TSB free and do I need to register?
A: TSB is free and you do not need to register to view the content. However, if you want to publish content, including stories, photos, video and audio, you must register.
Q: How do I find others to "friend"?
A: Find others by searching their name in the search box. If they don't appear in the initial search results, click the "users" tab. You can also click any user name on a story to access that person's profile. From their profile page, you can request to become their friend.
Q: How do I create and post content to the homepage?
A: Click "my dashboard" and then "create new story." Start by giving your story a title. From there, you can add text, video, and/or images. Don't forget to click "done" when you get to the publish section. Once the TSB editors review the content, they will post to the homepage and other relevant sections of TSB. Q: What is the difference between a story and a blog?
A: A blog is a personal journal. Blog entries, while searchable, are not placed under content categories in TSB such as sports buzz or my life. They are mainly accessible on your personal profile and through search. Stories are more integrated with the site and have robust content publishing capabilities. You can write text, upload videos, photos and more.
Q: How can we get other cities or schools listed on TSB?
A: That’s where you come in! We need content from around our county. Write stories, post photos, submit events and happenings going on in your city. The more content we have from your city, the faster we’ll be able to expand by adding city-specific categories and pages. Our infrastructure will grow as our content grows.
Q: How is TSB different from any other social network?
A: TSB combines in-depth local news and information with social networking features. To that end, we rely on our users to submit accurate and timely news stories and other content to share with each other. No other site provides the opportunity to discover, create and engage on the local level like we do.
Q: Do you have personals, classifieds or obituaries?
A: Yes! Anyone can submit an obituary. For a small fee, users can purchase a GLEE personal ad or wedding announcement to celebrate a loved one. A GLEE ad might say, “Good luck at the big game, Tommy!” or “Julie, Congratulations on your High School Graduation!”
Q: Can I purchase photos?
A: Yes, we have an automated system for users to order and purchase photos.
Q: How do I share a great idea to enhance the website or report a bug?
A: Every page has an orange feedback button on it. Click and submit! Our great developers at WhichBoxMedia are working as fast as possible. Thank you for your patience.
